A New Discovery…. Sambokojin

For those that know me, know very well that I am a creature of habit and have a difficult time leaving the confines of my “comfort zone” (home, vicinity etc..) I particularly steer clear of any places that are known to be traffic “hotspots”. Well… I have decided that 2011 will be different. It’s time to step away and explore what’s out there, one baby step at a time.

Had my usual lunch date with mother goose and she wanted to check out Eastwood Citywalk. Eastwood has been there for many years and yes…. today was the first time i had ever been.

I walked around seeing the usual restos and thought to myself, there’s really nothing new to try here….until I glanced at this sign that said “Sambokojin, NOW OPEN”. My mom and I decided to try it out.

As we entered, we were greeted with an almost “condominum-like” atmosphere, with a “concierge desk” at the ground floor. I thought that it was quite awkward at first… for a restaurant that is. Until…..

We managed to climb 2 fights of stairs and we were both shocked at the spread this resto had. A yakiniku buffet?? Who knew?! I was excited to see what they had.

Salad Bar

Sushi and Sashimi Area

All kinds of yummy goodies to cook at your table. πŸ˜€

The spread seemed endless!

PLUS…… A ton of cooked food as well. πŸ˜›

We decided to start slow and took our time. Pacing as they call it. Hehehe. The salmon belly was divine! It was melt in your mouth goodness! The marinated beef and chicken were deeeeelish!! I couldn’t try everything because there were just so many choices. Mother goose and Baby goose were Stuffed!! πŸ˜›

Kamameshi and Chapchae anyone??? πŸ˜€

During the course of our lunch, I spoke to the dining supervisor and OIC of the resto, and found out that this resto opened last Nov. 26, 2010. With my mom and I “ahhh-ing” and “ohhh-ing” we then discovered that the restaurant is owned and run by Β Mr. Vic-Vic Villavicencio, of the very well known Saisaki and Dad’s restaurant chains. No wonder it had that “familiar feel” to it…. with a twist of course. The yakiniku buffet is very reasonable for the quality you get.

M-F Lunch Php. 495.00

M-F Dinner Php 595.00

S-Sun Php. 595.00

Meet Rey and Axe. Look for them when you decide to visit, they will make your dining experience more memorable! πŸ˜€ As you may notice from my previous posts, service is very important to me. Bad service, bad food, I say. 😦

As we continued chatting up with the guys, they pointed out that Mr. Villavicencio’s son runs the daily operations.

Bokie Villavicencio

I love how Mr. V Sr. has passed down the same passion for food and great service to his son, Bokie. May your restaurant flourish and continue to satisfy peoples bellies. πŸ˜›

Here we go again…. The awkward ort no no one seems to want πŸ˜‰

Let me end by saying that a trip out of my comfort zone proved to be well worth it! πŸ˜€ I am looking forward to discovering new places and meeting new people. Thank you Lord for starting my 2011 with a positive attitude and positive change. πŸ˜€

    1. Hi tito Lito! My mom and I truly enjoyed your place. I saw Somethin’ Fishy and figured it belonged to the same group as well. Will definitely check it out for sure one of these days. We will definitely be back! πŸ˜€
