I was so graciously invited by Babyruth to join her and her lovely friends for an amazing night at Manila H0tel’s Mabuhay Palace. This night was filled with opulent ambiance, laughter, wonderful stories and of course AMAZING food!
Before our much awaited dinner, we were privileged enough to be given a tour of the hotel. ๐ ย I haven’t stepped foot in Manila Hotel for almost 10 years! ๐ฏ Last night was the first time in a loooong time. I was amazed and shocked that I have forgotten how beautiful this hotel is. The entire hotel has gone through major renovations and the lobby was palatial and majestic! It brought back many wonderful memories. (Watch out for them on my next posts :P)ย My apologies because my photos did not do justice to the place, it was beautiful. I loved seeing all the Filipino touches here and there, the chandeliers hanging….. just gorgeous!
After our tour, ( will be posting the rest soon, watch out for it! ๐ )Babyruth brought us to Mabuhay Palace. One word to describe my night….. SENSATIONAL! ๐
Here we go……
I needed to photograph these gorgeous jade panels that wrap around the entire restaurant, depicting the life story of Confucius. You can really see that they put in their heart, soul and pockets into making the place look and feel so inviting and enchanting. Wait until you see and taste to food! ๐ย It was awesome!
Their private rooms are spacious and inviting. Great for family get togethers and birthday celebrations.
The ladies of our gastronomic adventure. ๐

And of course our “hostess with the mostest”, Babyruth. ๐

Let the eating begin! Let me tell you, we had soooo much food. Everyone at the table was ooohing and ahhing after every bite! They FORBID the use of MSG in all their dishes, so I was in Chinese food heaven! Didn’t need to take my meds. Hehehhe.

Vegetarian Peking Duck, made with tofu. WOW! Tasted like the real thing! This was deeelish!

Love the hoisin sauce that comes with it.
One of the ladies that night, could not have tofu, so the chef made her a special appetizer sampler. They really go all out for their customers. I was impressed! Now that’s what I call Awesome Service!
My apologies for this photo. I was so excited to eat my soup that I completely forgot to take a photo of it. Hahahha.. So happy I was able to shoot it before I finished the entire thing!
This soup was called the Confucius Delight. It was packed with amazing flavour! Nothing was held back! It was full of Fish Maw, Scallops, Abalone and Goji Berries. Sluuuurp! ๐

These juicy chicken pouches were filled with chinese herbs, mushrooms, Goji berries and wrapped in Mabuhay Palace’s homemade puff pastry. I was in love at first bite!
These honey peppered beef cubes were so succulent and tender! One of my faves!

Ahhhhh…. The Lotus Rice! I am a rice girl, and when this came to the table, I instantly knew that this was gonna be so good. The aroma of the rice, infused with the lotus leaf, herbs, spices and seasonings, I was right! This was Deeeeeeelish! This is definitely a meal in itself! ๐
I try to stay away from pork, because I don’t like the “porky taste” that comes with the meat, but when I found out that this dish was grilled, fried, steamed and braised and it takes 2 days to make, I had to try it. It was falling off the bone goodness and so succulent, tender and juicy. This is their take on their sweet and sour pork…. it was fab!!! Loved the fried bread that came with it as well.

The food seemed endless…. It just kept coming! I was so full, but as soon as the food hit our table, I just needed to take a bite.
Our next dish was a Chicken with Crispy Ginger. This was my ultimate fave of the night! It was crisp, juicy, sweet and salty. The perfect balance that kept my palate wanting more. Those ginger chips were amazing! As Babyruth puts it, “it’s a food group”, and it truly was. Soooo sarrrrap! ๐

The Long Life Prawns were next. Everyone was stuffed, but everyone kept on going! ๐ฎ These were prawns that were delicately wrapped in noodles, deep fried and served with 3 sauces. A wasabi mayo, fruity plum sauce and hoisin sauce. I had one bite and my fave was the wasabi mayo ๐

Calling all Taro lovers out there! This is a must try! It was so moist, crisp and the flavours were out of this world! nom…nom…nom…

And the cherry on top…. Dessert! ๐

Meet the wonderful people behind our fantabulous dinner. Their dishes were creative, beautifully presented and extremely delicious. Thank you Chef Sun and Chef Josephine for this wonderful gastronomic experience

During this wonderful dining experience, I have met wonderful new friends, laughed out loud, listened, toured the hotel and ate to our heart’s content, thank you Lord for all your blessings. ๐
